Citation issued to Gefreiten Walter Mieck who served with infantry regiment 391 of the 170th infantry division.

The 170. Infanterie-Division was formed on 1 December 1939 . After occupation duty in Denmark and France, the division transferred to Romania where it helped train Romanian army units. The division served continuously on the Eastern Front seeing combat in Bessarabia and southern Russia, including the Crimea. After taking part in the capture of Sevastopol, it transferred to northern Russia where it served before Leningrad and at Narva.

This document has a facsimile signature  of General Field Marshal Von Mannstein and is dated 15th Feb 1943. 

The Krim shield is marked FO for Frederick Orth and has all prongs intact. No Backing plate or cloth.
